Sex Tips for the Rest of Us: Switch It Up...With Yourself Expanding masturbation techniques By Cory Silverberg

One of the tricky things about our sexual response is how easily it is habituated. A great sex therapist put it this way: humans take a great sexual act and then do it over and over again the exact same way until all the excitement, creativity, and spontaneity is gone. And we wonder why our sex lives sometimes seem “boring”! Whether you’re in a long term relationship, single-footloose-and fancy free, or somewhere in between, it’s easy to find yourself in a rut.

To inspire change in your sex life, and get you thinking about all the possibilities outside of your current sexual box (pardon the gendered pun) this week start by switching up one aspect of your solo sex life.

* If you always masturbate with your right hand, use your left.
* If you only masturbate at night, in your bed, take a moment to get down with your fine self in some other (safe and private) locale.
* If you tend to rely on the same fantasies, try a new one, or dig up one from your past.

You get the idea…Whatever you’ve been doing, do it differently. It might be a bit jarring or frustrating at first, but shocking yourself out of your routine can bring unexpected results.

Have fun!
